Lens Love

Image
This is just one shot taken with my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II camera lens.  It's just a sock, but I'm in love! I'm imagining the possibilities and they are endless, my friends. Cannot wait to get outside with this puppy.

Apartment Therapy

Image
So, I did not get around to podcasting this weekend... my sincere apologies! It's just been another crazy week of family gatherings and apartment therapy.
My parents came over for dinner Saturday night, which was a perfect excuse to assemble all the IKEA furniture we purchased last weekend... I know! I know! I said no more IKEA, but we needed a dining table and there was a patio set on sale-- an offer we couldn't refuse!
Sunday, it rained. I gladly took the opportunity to become shamelessly lazy and just knit the day away...

I worked on my Pomme de Pin cardigan, which I am thoroughly enjoying! Such a great pattern (thus far). And the yarn... ugh! The yarn is like BUTTAH! (The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts BFL Sport in Deep Unrelenting Gray) Then I worked on a pair of Vanilla Socks for Dennis, using the same yarn but in STR Lightweight. Then I cast on Purl SoHo's Granny Stripe Blanket... (I had originally cast on the Sothia Shawl, using Madeline Tosh Merino Light…

Slowing Down

Image
It seems my life is moving a little too quickly, these days. Everything I do feels like a race against the clock, including knitting time. And that's not good. When this happens, everything is out of whack. I feel frazzled, spread too thin, I eat too much chocolate and worst of all, I get a wicked bout of startitus!
When it comes to knitting, I have the attention span of a goldfish... If I can't totally focus on a particular project (especially big ones) there's a good chance I'm going to get distracted with another pattern. If not nipped in the bud, it becomes a chain reaction.

I need to slow down.
To remedy this, I have a few goals lined up for myself this summer:

Take a knitcation.  When exactly this will happen is TBD, but in the very near future.
Take pictures... lots of them! Put them in photo albums. Lately I've been stalking a photo photo blog, From Me to You... I'm absolutely smitten with Jamie's photos and have just been totally and utterly inspi…

Easter / Passover / PULP!

Image
OK, my ball winder seriously needs to go on hiatus. Between startitus and acquiring yarn, I may never finish another project. Or at least that's my fear.

I totally over-planned my knitting for all the holiday traveling I did last weekend. I wound two skeins of BMFA STR Lightweight in hopes of casting on the Catkin shawl... But for whatever reason, it didn't register that I'd need to focus on the pattern. So, I knit on my Hermione socks and worked three pattern repeats of my Harmony shawl. Those are coming along nicely. The socks will definitely be done this weekend!

Backtracking just a bit, last week I was browsing Ravelry and fell in love with the Sothia shawl. I decided to use up the rest of my Jimmy Beans Wool gift certificate on two lovely skeins of Madelinetosh Merino Light. One colorway in Edison Bulb and the other in Antler. (Just like Purl SoHo used in their granny stripe blanket!) Lately, I've been obsessed with neutrals and neons... however I haven&…

Decisions, decisions!

Image
Dennis and I have a double whammy holiday weekend... more like triple! First on the docket: Our friends, who are a month away from welcoming their baby, are having a little pre-baby party. Next up, Passover dinner with Dennis' family... then on Sunday, Easter dinner with my family! I anticipate lots of family, good food and dare I mention DRIVING! And you know what that means... lots of KNITTING! Still trying to work out what project(s) I'm going to bring along for the trip(s). Is it bad that I'm also looking forward to sitting in lots of holiday traffic?
Anywho, here's a sneak peak at some Easter goodies I whipped up. Unfortunately, these are not Kosher, but Dennis' family will still be getting some they can save for after the Passover holiday :)  These are Martha Stewart's Cranberry Coin Cookies... Baking is not one of my strong suits, but I have to say, this has to be one of the easiest cookie recipes I've attempted. Highly recommend it if you need …

Such a Tease!

Image
Looky what came in the post today! Yes siree, Bob-- those are green Signatures -- US 6 circulars to be exact.  (Which happens to be my favorite color and needle size at the moment!) The yarn for my future Pomme de pin cardigan has not yet arrived, so these are a total tease! I'm desperate to cast on something small so I can give them a whirl.
In other news, I've completed one and half Hermione's Every Day socks. Again, I'm using Blue Moon Fiber Arts STR Lightweight in the Mad Hatter colorway. Loving these! Not to mention, Bella has been a wonderful yarn cake holder for the duration. She's officially my little furry helper!

Speaking of Bella, in a slight retaliation for hogging my knitting chair, I took the liberty of wrapping her in my Hitchhiker shawl... to which her response was, "Kitteh not amused!" The face says it all:
That said, I hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend. Happy Easter! Happy Passover!
