Episode 12: How to Take a Knitcation

So this week I managed to score 2 days vacation! Woohoo! So much time, and nowhere to go... what better to do than sit home and knit? This week I blather on about knitting, more knitting, how to take a knitcation, assembling IKEA furniture... even more knitting, epic knitting fails, awesome podcasts, Rhinebeck!... YARN!... and yes-- STASHBUSTARMY!
Listen on!

Overwhelmed by all the yarn I scored at Rhinebeck, I decide to whip out a forlorn project from the UFO bin... Baby Cables & Big Ones Too! I can't believe I started this exactly a year ago-- to think I only had the sleeves to knit! Pfft!

Also on the needles, I cast on Ysolda's gorgeous Orchid Thief Shawlette-- though as the name suggests, it is also a thief of time! Knitter beware-- Errata-Palooza on this one. Also, I may have a thing for purple.

For those of you thinking about casting this on... you'll need this link for row 86.

Bring on the Geese!

I completely forgot about this video I took at Rhinebeck! It was part of the sheep dog competition-- They gave the sheep a break and brought in the geese! Too cute not to share. :)

Rhinebeck 2010

Had a great time at Rhinebeck this year! Came home with LOADS of yarn... so much, at this point I'm excommunicated from the StashBustArmy! ;-)My parents met up with Dennis and I-- they don't knit, but they still enjoyed walking around, the animals, watching spinners, and fondling a few skeins. They even picked some yarn out and requested I knit something for them! ::Squee!::So without further ado, I give you Photos from Rhinebeck 2010!

Dennis & My Dad

Sir Bah Rham Ewe... spelling is correct. He told me so. ;-)

Dame Chloe

Ribbon Lace my Mom picked out. I've never knit with this kind of thing, so It'll be interesting to see what I whip up.

Sir Bramble von Eaton

Intermisson: Shelter & Grandview Farm skeins wound.

Impressions: Incredibly soft wool!

Malabrigo Lace in Bobby Blue

Pure Alpaca - DK weight yarn my dad picked out for me to knit him a sweater... this is going to take a while.

Since I had the swift out, I decided to wind Brooklyn Tweed Shelter and GrandView Farm …

Episode 11: Out To Pasture

Not a lot of knitting this week, thanks to pulling a 60-hour week at work. On the other hand, LOTS startitus and yarn acquisitions! Yes. I know. I'm a disgrace to the #StashBustArmy... please forgive me. But look on the bright side... more yarn to bust!

Honestly, I blame BrooklynTweed's new Shelter wool line... couldn't help ordering a skein in the "Nest" colorway. I have no idea what to knit with it yet... mittens, a hat. Perhaps another Habitat. It's so soft... and you can feel the lanolin in the fiber. I can't decide which gets colder in winter most... my hands or my head. Hmm... actually, my arms. Might as well order more so I can make a whole sweater! ;) OK, no no... none of that. Yarn Diet!
I also cast on Beatnik, from the latest issue (Deep Fall 2010)
I'm using Knit Picks Wool of The Andes Worsted in Mink Heather.

Episode 10: Garlic-Palooza!

Back with another episode of YarnGasm! This week I've been a very good StashBustArmy soldier, finding yarn in unlikely places and practicing my drop spindling!
