OMG...

Image

Today is In My Way.

Not to quote an old MxPx song...
But seriously. I had a bad day. And the fact that I just came home and missed the downpour had I gotten caught in said downpour, would have made it that much worse...
1. I had to wake up at 4am to get to work. (only having slept 4 hours... due to the debates)
2. I'm so tired, I totally mess up an edit. An easy fix, but still. kind of embarrassing being that it's my second to last day at my current job, that I want to bow out gracefully because my new job will be within the same company.
3. The Morning Show almost crashed because my computer freezes, not allowing me to access the video files! All hell almost broke loose!
4. I spend the rest of the days cutting videos, making stupid mistakes that I don't usually make... and one of those mistakes accidentally got on air. Again... a dumb split sec. clip that I should have caught and nixed. All hell broke loose there after by my PA getting bombarded with IMs and phone calls asking her to ask me to…

Wakey! Wakey!

Another 6am morning at work... freezing all alone in an edit room. Although tomorrow's my last day as a freelance editor. Monday I move upstairs full time to the web department! woohoo! Definitely psyched! And definitely more creative than the hum drum hamster wheel work I'm doing now. Not to say I'm going to miss a lot of the people in this department.

My cousin just sent me pix from we went to visit her adopted daughter, Summer! She's uber cuuute!!!! I love her! Totally made my morning when I got these... here's one:

I also finished knitting a sweater for her just in time for the baby shower... kind of a crappy pic, since i took it with my cell phone. I'm at work, so i'll upload some better photos later. And I'm totally blanking on the name of the patter. Definitely more info later!

AHHH!!! Soooo cooold in here. I can barely feel my fingers. It's beyond me why they keep the AC on this high. Aside from the fact that they have to keep the computer equi…

Spicy Turkey Meaten Loafen!

Image
I made Turkey Meatloaf last night, because I've been craving comfort food lately... or actually, after trekking 3 hours in a car to the Oktoberfest on Hunter Mountain in the Catskills, and trying a "home made" German Meatloaf... which actually just tasted like a slab of hot dog... I felt the need to rekindle my love for comfort food, and make it right... and not to mention healthy!

TURKEY MEATLOAF:
Ingredients 1 1/2 lb Ground Turkey Meat1 cup seasoned bread crumbs (or whole wheat)1 medium onion grated3 garlic cloves minced1/4 cup ketchup1/2 cup BBQ sauce (any kind)... I usually go for spicey, hickory or chipotle1/2 tbsp fresh pepper1/4 tsp salt2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley1 egg1 tbsp. pizza pepper (optional)1 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional) 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine onion, garlic, 1/4 of bbq sauce & ketchup, parsley, salt, pepper, optional spices and ground turkey meat (careful not to cross-contaminate!) 3. spray 9" loa…

401 Knit Plan

Alas, I am at work. I had to wake up at 4am again to get here at 6am... but the good news is... are you ready for this? I GOT THE OTHER JOB!!!! I'm so psyched!
I'm not sure when they want me to start, but my current boss needs me to finish up the rest of the week. Sianara insane hours Freelancing! Hello full time + benefits + 401K plan + mandatory Blackberry! Hah.

Today's pretty chill. I get out in an hour and a half, so that's good. I'm just so pooped. But i know when i get home i'm not going to be able to fall back asleep. I'll just be in and out. My boyfriend's visiting his brother, so I'll pretty much have the day to myself. Not sure what to do. I might just veg... finish knitting Summers sweater maybe.

I also went through with it and attempted to professionally dye my hair brown. It looks ok. I'm not totally liking it. The stylist couldn't get it to get any lighter, and some of the black was too stubborn. So now it's like a dark reddis…

Autumn Pools

I'm kind of freaking out. I've been dying my hair black now for about 3+ years, and kinda getting tired of it. So, yesterday on my day off, I bought this stuff called "Color Oops" which is supposed to return it back to my natural color... but as predicted, I've dyed my hair so many times, it only removed the color near my roots. So today after work I'm seeing a professional to dye it a dark brown color. Honestly, I haven't been to a salon in YEARS!

So, I'm kind of cringing. But I need to fix it. People at my office think I've gone hard core. lol

Back to knitting...
I knit this hat for my boyfriend but might end up borrowing it! hehe
The colors kept reminding me of pumpkin pie while knitting it making me hungry. :-9

Right now I've started knitting a sweater for Summer... So far so good. If I can get a baby sweater right, maybe I can get an adult sweater right... evetually! ;-)

OK, back to work.

Live From NY it's Sunday Morning!

Image
So, it's Sunday and I'm at work. I've been up since 4am, to get to work at 6am. I don't even know if it's safe for me to blog at work, but I'm kind of bored right now, so why not?

I had to walk over the Pulaski Bridge to get to the 7 train... and at 5am, it was still dark out and could faintly see the sun coming up behind the Citi Corp building. I don't know how safe it is for a girl like me to be walking over a bridge in the wee hours of the morning, but by then I'm sure all the creepy crawlies are too tired to jump and/or attack anyone.

Lest to say, I've dubbed it the "Bridge of Shame" , going by the number of people coming home from a Saturday night of too-much-party! hehe.

I'm so jealous. My boyfriend is probably still asleep. *le sigh*

Yesterday we just drove around Brooklyn. I checked out DUMBO for the first time. I never realized how gorgeousi t is there, under the bridges, and the park. They still have those waterfall things up... …

Sugar Plum Hat

Finally! A finished object! I decided to take a break from my sweater that I've been pouring blood sweat and tears into, and make something small with some yarn that I've been dying to use.

It only took me a day to make (probably because I have way too much time on my hands lateely...) but the first version was a little too short. So I frogged part of it this morning, made it longer, and added a pom pom.

Comfort Dip: Spicy Bacon Split Pea

Image
I'm totally obsessed with making dips... especially hummus. And the funny thing is, I end up not really dip anything into the dip except a big spoon. So that being said, the dips I make double as a snack I guess.
After opening the fridge today, I realized the container of hummus I made earlier this week was diminishing quickly. But this time, I decided to try something new. Since the weather's getting cooler, and soup is definitely working its way back into my diet, it dawned on me to try making a split pea dip! And it actually came out incredibly YUMS!
So with out further ado, I give you my Spicy Bacon Split Pea Dip!

15oz Can Split Peas 3 slices Deli Sliced Ham 1 tbsp fresh cracked pepper Sea Salt to taste 1 tsp lemon juice 1 1/2 tsp paprika 1 tsp cayenne pepper 2 cloves minced garlic 2 tbsp filtered water Olive Oil or PAM
Cut ham slices into smaller pieces and place in small sauce pan with olive oil or pam on high. Place whole can of peas into food processor. Add a dash of salt & p…
