Hurricane Sandy, 2012

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their concern for me and other east coast knitters, who braved Hurricane Sandy.

In Brooklyn, aside from some minor light flickering and temporary loss of internet, we were not affected. We were very lucky.

I can't say the same for others in my neighborhood. There was power loss, major flooding and damage throughout our neighborhood — We were a block away from Newtown Creek overflow. (For those who don't know about the Newtown Creek, it is one of the most polluted bodies of water in the U.S. and is now a Superfund site. Need I say more?)

We took a walk to the Williamsburg Waterfront where the phenomenon that is "Brooklyn Flea" happens every weekend to check out any damage. Along the way we also saw a fallen stadium light in McCarren Park, which was pretty shocking. Check out the photos:

As for the podcast, I will be recording next weekend. Lots to chat about (i.e., Rhinebeck, FOs, and hobby dabbling) ;) #StayTuned
